Cory Tyler is the Program Coordinator for Spirit Awakening Foundation. He is a performing artist who earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from UCLA, where he studied theatre and is also a Practitioner at the Agape International Spiritual Center.
Committed to highlighting equity, access-enabled and self-generated resourced communities particularly within a African American and Latino / Latina diaspora, Cory supports organizations and movements that promote economic, educational, artistic, and health-related advancements and opportunities for all human beings, domestically and globally.
Cory began at Spirit Awakening as a Facilitating Artist and now as Program Coordinator. He has an appreciation for both the scholar-facing and administrative side of the organization. Cory’s passion is sharing the language model known as Nonviolent Communication and is on track to become certified in the discipline. He has found that encouraging students to embrace the full spectrum of their emotions as a channel to identify their human needs and values can provide clarity and healing. This has been particularly impactful in empowering incarcerated and underserved youth communities. As Program Coordinator, Cory is focused on using systems and strategies to ensure an enjoyable experience for both the facilitators and the scholars they teach.
