THE VISUAL ARTS AND THEATER PROGRAM AT CAMP SCOTT AND LOS PADRINOS JUVENILE HALL was DESIGNED TO TEACH STUDENTS THEATER AND VISUAL ARTS AS TOOLS FOR HEALING THE SOUL.
This program was created within Spirit Awakening Foundation by Akuyoe Graham and her husband, Masauso Chiumya, with a goal to show the youth how to fully embrace and utilize the natural expression that art allows as an outlet for internal aggression, struggle, stress, and emotion.
Spirit Awakening’s Creative Arts classes are currently provided in a number of public high schools, continuation high schools and juvenile probation facilities throughout Los Angeles County. Through Spirit Awakening’s Creative Arts classes, young people receive instruction in: visual arts; acting/improvisation; photography; film; graphic design, and; jewelry design.
